The Captain's Choice Tour

An Australian, family owned and operated company established in 1994, Captain's Choice Tour offers discerning travellers luxury, all inclusive, personalised tours to remote and exotic destinations throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, Central America and South America.

The tour, Cross and Crescent in the Middle Ages was designed during 2008 and included in the Captain's Choice Tour catalogue for 2009. Other theme-based tours are in preparation.

As well as the designing of new tours I have been a guest lecturer on other Captain’s Choice tours.

Education City [Brisbane, Australia]

Education City is a joint development of the Mirvac Group and the Springfield Land Corporation.

The campus is designed to bring together education, training and learning providers in the one location, providing the full spectrum of education from childcare to post-graduate studies and will eventually house 10,000 students.

The aim of the consultancy was (a) the bringing together of the leading tenant [the University of Southern Queensland] and a university in the USA to offer degree courses and (b) the creation of an international hotel school.

In 2008, City University, Seattle, joined with USQ and the collaboration will yield new joint degree programs in business.

Developments for the creation of an international hotel school are continuing.

Queensland Investment Corporation [Australia]

Queensland Investment Corporation, one of the premier fund managers in Australia, is developing a number of major retail outlets as “town centres”.

As Education Adviser (2003-5), advice on ways to integrate tertiary education into these centres was provided and a plan developed for a for-profit education company involving an Australian university and a major US university.

A new joint postgraduate double degree between Swinburne University [Melbourne, Australia] and Northeastern University [Boston, USA] resulted as a result of this consultancy.

EduHelp International [Australia]

Senior adviser and consultant for the provision of advice for the establishment of a web and call centre based student support system for tertiary students (2003-4).

Central Gippsland Institute of TAFE (CGIT) [Australia]

Member of a consulting team for the production of a Strategic Master Plan (2003) and a Feasibility Study for the development of the CGIT Leongatha Campus (2003). The plan is currently being implemented.

Gippsland Education Project [Australia]

Gippsland Education Precinct is an innovative, Government supported, bi-sectoral grouping (Monash University, CGIT and a Victorian secondary college).

A workshop was facilitated in 2003 to develop an implementation plan based on its founding objectives.

Chief Minister, State of Perak [Malaysia]

Provision of advice on the establishment of a private college in Malaysia with links to universities in Australia, the UK and the USA (2003).

Multiversity Digital Pty. Ltd. [Australia]

Multiversity Digital Pty. Ltd. was an Australian registered training authority and international education broker.

In 2002/3 collaborative teaching arrangements were sourced and agreements negotiated between international clients e.g. Hemsdale College, Singapore and the National Institute of Technology in China and Australian universities e.g. Swinburne University and professional organisations e.g. Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers, Australia.

Informatics Holdings Ltd. [Singapore]

Informatics Holdings Ltd, an internationally recognised and global tertiary education provider established, in 1998, PurpleTrain.com, a fully owned eLearning company.

In 2002/3 new programs were sourced and agreements established with two Australian universities, Macquarie University and Swinburne University, for the delivery of programs to Purple Train.

Boustead Ltd. [Singapore]

Boustead Ltd, a long established multifaceted business (circa 1850) with strong trading links in China, diversified its activities to include tertiary education in 1999.

It established a private college in Tianjin and sought assistance in building academic links with universities in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

An agreement was brokered in 2002 between the college and Australia’s Victoria University of Technology for the provision of educational services.

China Council for the Promotion of International Trade [Sichuan, China]

In 2003, advice was provided to the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade on the organisation of educational trade fairs.

University of Melbourne [Australia]

University of Melbourne is arguably Australia’s most prestigious university. The University sought advice on ways in which it might develop its corporate relations. In 2000 a position paper was produced and delivered.

University of Adelaide [Australia]

University of Adelaide, a member of the Group of Eight Australian universities, sought information about international education opportunities in China.

Advice on these opportunities was also prepared for the University of Queensland, another Group of Eight university, and Pennsylvania State University (USA), a top 100 US university seeking to globalise its programs.

Guangdong University of Business and Law [China]

An agreement was negotiated in 2000 for the provision of collaborative teaching services with Southern Cross University (Australia) and for recruitment of Chinese students for Southern Cross University.

Education Gateway Ltd. [Australia]

In 1999 - 2000, management services were provided to Education Gateway, an Australian company recruiting Chinese students for universities in Australia, New Zealand, UK and US.
